Solid start for Mathias at Wyndham
Mathias shot a 67 (-3) in the first round of the Wyndham Championship. He sits currently in T38th place, but is only one shot away from top-15 position. "I played ok today, though I missed a few putts and a couple shots out there so I really can should have gone lower today" Mathias said after the round.Arjun Atwal leads the tournament after the first round. He shot a 61 and leads by two ahead of Brandt Snedeker.
"I need to play really well this week to make it into the FedEx Cup playoffs and it should not be impossible as I am striking the golfball pretty solid right now" Mathias continued.

He turned pro in December 1990 after having completed an impressive amateur career. Mathias enrolled into a Swedish golf academy at age 15 and quickly gained a spot on the Swedish Junior National Team. In 1988 he won the Swedish Boys Championship. He won the prestigious British Youth Championship at Southerness in 1990. During the same year Mathias contributed to the Swedish victory of the Eisenhower Trophy.Read more about Mathias
