MATHIAS TO PLAY US OPEN
Mathias shot 64-69 to capture one of the five spots in a regional qualifier for the US OPEN next week.This will be Mathias first major start in 6 years.
" I played pretty good on Monday. First round 69, actually included one double bogey and 4 bogeys, so I could have been even better. I am really excited to be playing a major again. I love Pebble Beach so it will be the perfect week for me" Mathias said after the qualifier.

He turned pro in December 1990 after having completed an impressive amateur career. Mathias enrolled into a Swedish golf academy at age 15 and quickly gained a spot on the Swedish Junior National Team. In 1988 he won the Swedish Boys Championship. He won the prestigious British Youth Championship at Southerness in 1990. During the same year Mathias contributed to the Swedish victory of the Eisenhower Trophy.Read more about Mathias
