T11th after round 1in Texas
Mathias had a solid start at the Valero Texas Open. He opened with a first round 70 (-2) and is currently T11th. It was a tough windy day for all the players and the Greg Norman-designed Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio plays very difficult. The green areas are extremely and solid tee shots are crucial to have any chance at birdies."I played great today. It feels like I am in good control of my game right now and to post a 70 on such a tricky course is ok. Tomorrow I hope to keep my momentum going and post an even lower score" Mathias said after the round.
Mathias will have an early tee time on Friday and you can of course catch all the action on the official PGA TOUR website
