Big move in round 2
Mathias fired a 66 (-5) in his second round, which was one of the best scores on Friday. He moved from T68th to T15th position and is 5 shots behind the leader Garth Mulroy."I had a great time out on the course today. Yesterday I felt like I played just as well but did not capitalize. Today was different and the score was good. I am a few shots behind the leaders going into the weekend and I will do my best to catch them" Mathias said on Friday evening.

He turned pro in December 1990 after having completed an impressive amateur career. Mathias enrolled into a Swedish golf academy at age 15 and quickly gained a spot on the Swedish Junior National Team. In 1988 he won the Swedish Boys Championship. He won the prestigious British Youth Championship at Southerness in 1990. During the same year Mathias contributed to the Swedish victory of the Eisenhower Trophy.Read more about Mathias
