Bad back stops Gronberg
Mathias was in a great position after the first round at the Mayakoba Championship, though a bad back in the second round prevented him from playing his normal golf. Mathias ended up shooting a +5 in round two, missing the cut by two shots."I did not do my normal warm-up and felt very stiff in my lower back. I was not able to hit with normal power and as a result missed a number of shots during the first nine holes. I will have to keep this in mind during the rest of the season. I am not 25 years old anymore" Mathias said after the round on Friday.
Mathias will most likely not make it into the field in Phoenix this week, but will have to focus on getting into the Honda Classic. 2010-02-22
