Solid start in Mexico
Mathias got a solid start to the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun. Gronberg carded a 67 (-4) and sits in T11th position. He is three shots behind the leader Joe Durant (64)."A fantastic feeling to play well after a few tough starts this season. My putting was much better and it felt like I could have gone even lower today. All in all it is a solid start, but three rounds remain and hopefully I can build on my performance today" Mathias said right after the round.

He turned pro in December 1990 after having completed an impressive amateur career. Mathias enrolled into a Swedish golf academy at age 15 and quickly gained a spot on the Swedish Junior National Team. In 1988 he won the Swedish Boys Championship. He won the prestigious British Youth Championship at Southerness in 1990. During the same year Mathias contributed to the Swedish victory of the Eisenhower Trophy.Read more about Mathias
