  • When are you coming back to the states?
QuestionHello Mathias - We here in Omaha, Nebraska are following your career with great interest. I was very happy to see you go deep in the first round of the Mayakoba. Was wondering if the tequila down there had any impact on your seconed round score?
I hope your back feels better!!! Keep making birdies!!!!
    AnswerHi Chad,
The Tequila had nothing to do with my golf in Mexico :)
I just received an invite for the Honda Classic and I will do my best to play well.
    My back is ok, thanks!

  • Current form
QuestionWhy is Matthias so inconsistent? Time and again he plays a good round then follows it with a really bad one, as in thew Mayacoba Classic on Friday. Is he still troubled by injury? I find it very hard to equate the recent US form of Matthias with his great performances on the European tour, where consistency was always his strong point.
    AnswerHi Paul,
I have battled a foot injury for a long time and that naturally has had impact on my game. I feel that my game has improved a lot since the time in Europe, however it is much tougher in the US and you simply have to play top golf in order to get the good results.

I promise you Paul, this year will be a great year for me!

    Thanks!

  • Foot injury
    QuestionMathias,
We follow the Euro's here pretty closely, and we are concerned with the foot injury. Which foot is it? I was watching the Pebble Beach tourney, and I noticed your weight shift seemed a bit off. Are the experts at the Swedish Golf Academy doing any swing analysis?

    Sincerely Dave
    AnswerHi Dave,
The foot is no longer a big problem for me, as long as I do my workouts and not playing too much golf at this moment. My swing was not 100 % at Pebble Beach so you might be right about my weight shift.

In Mexico I played fantastic golf during the first round. I really should have shot -8 (instead of -4). During my second round I had problems with my lower back due to a bad warm up.

I am not working with the Swedish Golf Academy after turning pro. Instead I work closely with my trainer and swing analysis is a normal part of the practice sessions.

Good luck with your golf game.

  • Foot update
QuestionMathias - I'm a big fan. Just wondering how your foot injury is doing? I know the Swedish golf acadamy has trained you well. Keep making birdies!!!!
    AnswerHi Chad,
The foot is ok, but not great. I am working hard to improve it though and hopefully it will not have an impact on my game this season. Yes, the Swedish organization is truly great and many other nations have learned a lot from it.

Good luck with your golf season too!

  • New clubs and ball
    QuestionHi Mathias,

Just wondering how your game felt with new clubs and ball on your first event for the year? What part of your game do you feel needs more work to adjust to the new equipment? How different did the new Srixon ball have on your game?

Best of luck on your next tornament!

AnswerWell, it was not the best of tournaments on my part, but it had nothing to do with the equipment.
I did not feel comfortable with my swing and the tough playing conditions did not help.

I simply need to work hard for a few weeks and hopefully everything will go well.

    Thanks
  • The big day!
    QuestionHi Mathias,

How's life in Hawaii? We here in Sweden are hoping that you play good enough to see on TV this weekend. Whats your impression of the course? How many rounds do you get to play before you start on thursday?

    Thanks and Lycka till!
    AnswerHi Adam,
I love the course and the way it is setup. Hawaii is a beautiful place and the event is a very nice stop on the PGA TOUR. I have managed to get two practice rounds in before we start on Thursday. My game feels great and I am excited to get the season started. This week I have my good old friend Bobby Collings on the bag and we have a fun time together on the course.

Thanks Adam and good luck with your golf game.

    AnswerHi Mark!
It all depends on how well I play early on in the season, but it looks like I will play 20-30 events in 2010.

  • Life on tour
    QuestionHi Mathias,
Just saw your website for the very first time and it looks great.
It would be cool to see photos from "inside the ropes" and hear storys from life on tour.

Good luck in 2010 on the PGA TOUR.

    Take care

    Andy
    AnswerHi Andy,
Thanks for the kind words. I will upload photos throughout the season.

  • Preparations for 2010
    QuestionMathias,
Congrats on a great finish to 2009. How have your prepared for 2010?

    /Thomas
    AnswerHi Thomas,
Thanks, I had a solid finish to 2009 and look forward to build on that in 2010.
This time of the year is when I get my longest break from tournament golf, but I have kept in shape and spent some time working on my short game. My first event is scheduled for mid january in Hawaii and I will begin hard training two weeks before that event.

Good luck with your golf game!

    /Mathias
  • Love to travel?
QuestionMathias - I here that some pros love the traveling to different events and some do not at all. What about you?
AnswerYes I do like to travel but when you go three - four weeks at a time I just can't wait to get home!
When playing on the European Tour travelling was more difficult as you go from country to country.
On the PGA TOUR many events are close to eachother and travelling distances shorter.

  • First tournament expectations
QuestionMathias - what are your expectations on your first tournament in Hawaii, Sony Open? Brand new clubs and ball! Is it a test to see how the clubs perform or do you always try to win no matter what?
AnswerGood question - thanks! Yes it will be both a test on my form after weeks of training and my new Srixon driver and irons. So far i love the feel and I seem to hit my irons 5 yards longer. Of course I always try to play my best, like all the other guys out there, and hope to win or be in the top 10.
